Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Pharmaceutical Education that Meets Broad Needs

Five courses have been established: the Pharmacy Course (for training pharmacists to possess a high-degree of knowledge and technical skill); the Pharmaceutical Sciences Course (for training researchers and educators in the field of basic pharmacy); the Biostatistics Course (for training specialists in statistics for clinical studies); the Pharmaceutical Medicine Course (for training people who will lead in the work of international drug development); and the Medical Pharmacy Course (for training pharmacists who specialize in the field of cancer). We are actively accepting people from general society.

Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences

Pursuing the Connection between People and Animals in Cutting-Edge Research Facilities

The coexistence of people and animals is studied from a global perspective, including animal biofunctions, disease prevention and treatment, food safety and environment preservation. After the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology selected the School as a “High-Technical Research Center,” the already cutting-edge facilities and equipment were further enhanced. This is the perfect environment for investigating current and novel topics and problems. The school has three divisions: Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science and Environmental Bioscience, for training researchers and technical experts with an international perspective.

Graduate School of Marine Biosciences

Environment and Food from a Fisheries Science Viewpoint

The Division of Fisheries Sciences was established in 1976, and in 2000 it was reorganized under the name of the Division of Aquatic Bioscience. In 2012, its name  was changed to the Division of Marine Biosciences, Graduate School of Marine Biosciences. The School is devoted to the efficient use of marine resources to resolve the global environmental and food crises, and to the training of personnel to manage aquatic biological resources and preserve natural habitats. It has three specializations: Aquaculture Science, Marine Ecobiology and Applied Marine Biological Chemistry. Academic conferences are actively promoted and the school is considered one of the best among private universities in fisheries and marine bioscience research.

Graduate School of Nursing

Striving for Better Healthcare through Nursing Education

To meet the needs of modern society, raise the quality of nursing, and resolve nursing problems , the School trains educators, researchers, and other highly specialized personnel as part of lifetime nursing education. In order to conduct education that 1) meets the specific needs of society, 2) is capable of practical application, and 3) can be applied over a wide range of related fields, the School has set up educational courses consisting of nine specialized fields in the Masters program, as well as two areas and seven specialized fields of clinical nursing and nursing management in the Doctoral program.

Graduate School of Science

Researching Life Sciences in a High-Quality Environment

Working in molecular science and biology, students acquire the theory and methods for studying the makeup of life. The Division of Molecular Sciences researches molecular movement and groups, and works to clarify the phenomena of life. The Division of Biosciences conducts functional analysis of genes and proteins and clarifies the high-level functions of life. Experimentation and seminars are stressed, external researchers are invited to lectures, and a diverse curriculum is provided, producing a high-quality research environment.

Graduate School of Medical Sciences

An Educational System Produced by Original Thinking

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences endeavors to harmonize basic research in both healthcare and medical science with clinical research. Its aim is to train researchers, educators, and high-level specialists to implement this undertaking. Employing the socially oriented unit system of education, the school carries out research and education that supports the development of advanced medical science and healthcare. Furthermore, in order to enable the acquiring of eligibility for specialist exams, the school provides Medical Physicist Course and the Clinical Psychology Course in the master's program, as well as Multidisciplinary Clinical Oncology Specialist Training Course in the doctoral course.

Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences

An Independent Facility for Practical Research

The Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences was set up as the education department of the Kitasato Institute for Life Sciences (ILS). The Master's program was established in 2002, and extended into an additional Doctoral program in 2004. The School specializes in infection control and drug discovery. While doing research with the research staff of the ?mura Satoshi Memorial Institute (renamed from ILS as of April 1, 2020), our goal is to train personnel who not only have a broad knowledge of their field of specialization and world-leading technology, but who also maintain a problem solving stance with practical application first in mind and who have a broad perspective.
