The counselors help students find specific ways to cope with and solve problems while discussing them together. This service is available to all Kitasato University students. We hope to help all the students lead a more fulfilling student life and find something important for themselves in the process. Please feel free to use our services.

Face-To-Face Counseling While COVID-19 Measures Are in Place

As a measure against COVID-19, we ask visitors to do the following when visiting in person until further notice. First, please read each item carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Counseling and Psychological Services via e-mail ( gakusou@kitasato-u.ac.jp ). A counselor will provide detailed explanations.
(1) Counselors will be wearing masks, since the counseling will take place in a small room. We ask that visitors wear masks as well.
(2) Every time you visit, we will ask you to: 1) disinfect your hands, 2) wear a mask properly and 3) check for cold symptoms such as fever (higher than normal body temperature), cough, phlegm, diarrhea, fatigue, etc. If you feel unwell like above symptoms, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your health condition before coming.
(3) If you are feeling unwell at the time of your visit, we may cancel the counseling session for that day and have you rescheduled your appointment.
(4) If you have/had cold symptoms such as fever (higher than normal body temperature), cough, phlegm, diarrhea or fatigue after we set up your next appointment date, please call or email Counseling and Psychological Services before coming for your counseling session. In this case, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.
(5) Counseling times will be limited to thirty minutes until further notice.
(6) If you discover that you or someone around you has COVID-19 after the counseling session, please inform Counseling and Psychological Services immediately.
(7) If it is discovered after the session that the counselor you have seen has COVID-19, the university will respond in accordance with the arrangements in the university’s latest measures against the virus. Depending on the circumstances, the names of visitors that the counselor discovered to have COVID-19 had met within a certain period of time may be reported to the public health center and/or your department as “persons of close contact,” and you may be suspended from attending school for a certain period of time. In such cases, a Counseling and Psychological Services staff member will contact you.

Please note that this response will be based on current laws and regulations, and that the obligation to preserve safety takes precedence over the obligation to maintain confidentiality. The public health center and your department will only be informed of your name and the date of visit, and the content of your counseling sessions will not be divulged to outside parties.

After working primarily as an educational counselor and school counselor, I have been involved in student counseling since 2009. Although having problems and worrying about them can be tough and sometimes painful, these experiences often provide important opportunities for personal growth. Especially for university students, it is a natural part of growing up to worry about the self, the future, and the relationships with others, etc. In counseling, I try to provide a safe environment in which the clients are free to explore themselves and help them find their own path. If you have any problems, I will work with you and support you to find solutions. Please feel free to use this service not only when you encounter problems or concerns, but also when you want to deepen your understanding of yourself and/or others, or simply talk to someone about your thoughts and feelings. I look forward to working with you.

I have years of clinical experience from my previous work at a psychiatric hospital and several psychosomatic medicine clinics.
I fully understand that it is not easy to continue being yourself while trying to adapt to the group life, especially in a different country and different culture.
During the long journey of life, there will be times when you are faced with difficult choices and confused by the changes, and even feel like you are getting lost. In these moments, you could recover through your self-healing power by simply talking to someone about your feelings, a person who wants to make you feel understood.
In order for your current concerns to lead to new possibilities and personal fulfillment,
I am ready to discuss with you about solutions and help you go further.
Please feel free to come and have a talk here.
