About the award

Kitasato International Contribution Award was established in 2017. It acknowledges the remarkable international contributions made by graduates from Kitasato University or Kitasato University Graduate School, thereby enhancing the university's reputation. Moreover, it aims to increase awareness of international contributions among the university's graduates and current students.

  • Positions (at time of award): Regional representative for MENA, Japanese Red Cross Society/Regional Emergency Health Coordinator in MENA, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
  • Reason for the award: As the Regional Representative for the Middle East in the Japanese Red Cross Society, she has actively contributed in various humanitarian aid activities.

  • Reason for the award: He has contributed to a multi-stakeholder partnership for equitable and sustainable progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

  • Graduated school/ faculty:  School of Allied Health Sciences (formerly School of Hygienic Sciences)
  • Positions (at time of award):  Director, Safety and Health Management System Audit and Certification Center, Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association (JISHA)
  • Reason for the award: As part of a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project, he taught accident prevention measures in Malaysia, helping to reduce accidents and occupational diseases. He participated in an international committee to develop International Standards (ISO) to promote occupational health and safety. He also contributed to the dissemination of ISO standards by translating them into Japanese, preparing Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), and giving lectures.

  • Reason for the award: She has contributed to improving the skills and raising awareness among local veterinarians in Africa using the veterinary knowledge and skills developed in Japan. She is the first Japanese veterinarian registered as a veterinary surgeon in Uganda.
