Overview

The Kitasato University Center for Nursing Career Development and Research is established as a collaborative venture by Kitasato University Hospital (a specified functional hospital), Kitasato University East Hospital (providing wide-ranged local medical care) and Kitasato University School of Nursing (a pioneer of university level nursing education). We provide focused programs with higher academic requirements and practices by merging clinical pathology and education.

Departments

The center consists of the following 4 departments:

  • Department of Training Certified Nurses and Nurse Administrators
  • Department of Research
  • Department of Career Development
  • Department of Publicity
These departments carry out projects for training and educating certified nurses, nurse administrators and clinical trainers. It supports continuous education in nursing, international nursing exchanges, local initiatives and mentoring for research into nursing. A variety of workshops and seminars are organized by the respective groups.
The requirements of life-long learning in nursing are continuously changing due to the nature of the practitioners and current state of the society. In order to serve these needs appropriately, we have been applying the “project – cycle – management” method from a program planning stage. We use a spiral-up program whereby we review new projects by incorporating project planning, its implementation and monitoring and the assessment so that we can always meet the relevant needs.
