ATTENTION：Bringing Animal Products into Japan from Overseas（due to the amendment of the Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Diseases Control）

The amendment of the Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Diseases Control (July 1, 2020) was enacted by the Japanese government.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries call attention to bring meat or animal products into Japan, therefore please be aware of the following things.

1. Regardless of the quantity or mode of transportation, bringing pork, beef, chicken and eggs, etc. (including sausages, jerky, and other processed foods, meat buns, etc.) from overseas to Japan is prohibited by law and must not be brought into Japan.
2. If you bring meat or animal products, you would be punishable with imprisonment for not more than 3 years or a fine of up to 3 million yen (up to 50 million yen for corporations) .
3. Not only the international students themselves but also their families and acquaintances who are visiting Japan should never bring food products containing meat, eggs, and other ingredients to Japan. Please bring their attention not to bring those products, and also not to ship them by mail to Japan.
